Sturdy but over-priced... January 30, 2010 Carlos Morales (TX, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
When I received these shears via mail, my first impression was they look 'heavy duty.' After I manipulated them though they felt almost 'generic.' After trying them out with light clothing (cotton garment), they performed as standard shears. Then I tested them with heavy denim material and they were able to cut with ease, just slightly better than you traditional shears. When using for cutting silk/clear/medipore tape (tapes often used in hospitals) they did have improved slicing due to the "fluoride coating" with minimal to no sticking at all. Quality was on pare if not minimally improved over tradition shears; I attempted to cut a U.S. penny in half, but they would not cut more than 1mm, but they did maintain their sharpness. My overall rating for these shears would be a 8 in a scale of 1-10. They did perform 'better' than your traditional shears, but due to the price they were not the best bargain. So as stated in the review title, decent pair of shears that perform better than regulars, just over-priced.
right tool for the job.. January 30, 2010 Evan T. Minarik (baltimore, maryland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
i am an emergency and trauma nurse. i had regular medical scissors that weren't coated and mini-serrated before and these things blow them out of the water. i used these ones to cut through a belt last week. they go through jeans like butter. great product

pretty bad ass. i am a trauma doc and these things cut everything i have needed w ease. don't waste money on those [...] shears. they suck and you can't even get through a t-shirt. these things rock through jeans, belts, anything i need without a problem. and the fluoride coating actually works, tape doesn't stick to them very well. good stuff
The best out there May 30, 2010 Brad Silver (Dallas, TX) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am an Emergency Medicine resident about to start my final year. Needless to say, I've been through my fair share of trauma shears. I've had the lowly drug rep shears to the run of the mill medical supply store shears, to the titanium shears my residency provided, and finally got these. I can say without a doubt, these things are the best. They will cut through anything you'll ever need in a trauma. Any piece of clothing is destroyed by these babies. It will cut through jeans, double layers of clothes, and even belts (sorry whoever's belt I destroyed). I've been using them for about a year now without any noticeable drop in performance. I've let people borrow them and each is amazed at how great they are. I just made sure that they gave them back! They look nice too. All black. A real eye catcher. Throw this in with your all black Littmann stethoscope, and you'll be styling in the trauma hall. People may gripe that they are $13. That is a little pricey for trauma shears. But I feel they are well worth it. You won't be buying a new set any time soon. If you are on Amazon trying to find a new set of trauma shears to replace those that fell apart or were lost, click on the "Add to Cart" button right now. You won't regret it.
